Abd al Kuri is located between the island of Socotra and Cap Gardafui, the northeastern tip of the Horn of Africa.
The island is mountainous except for its central part around the isthmus. The north coast is mainly made up of sandy beaches with some rocky spots. The south coast is made up of steep cliffs. A population of about 300 lives on the island, divided into three villages.
